FFT is managed by a team of Trustees who work with the Executive Directors to manage every area of the charity. We currently have seven Board members:
Mike Southcombe – Chair
Mike had been Vice Chair of Family Foundations Trust since 2003 and succeeded Tony Sellwood as chairman in March 2007. He retired as a director of George Wimpey City Ltd in 2009 and has been on the board here virtually since the building was acquired in 1991. With his great experience in project management Mike has helped oversee the building development to its current shape.
John Riddell – Vice Chair
John is part of the leadership team of Petworth Community Church. He and his wife Sue, worked for seven years in the 1970’s with David & Wendy Iliffe in evangelistic missions across West Sussex. In a family partnership John farms 600 acres of land. He has a passion to see God’s purposes worked out with regard to our connection with the land. He has made a lifetime commitment, to encourage partnerships, involving individuals, fresh initiatives and relevant church, bringing spiritual life to rural communities across the South Downs area. He is Vice chair of the Board, is chair of the Centre Management Group as well as having involvement with Children Worldwide Management Team. His experience of managing people and property are invaluable to the Board.
Trevor Hollingum – Company Secretary
Trevor lives in Mid Sussex and is married with two adult sons and two adult daughters. He is an active member of The Point Anglican Church. A board member since 2005, Trevor recently retired as an engineer managing projects within the water industry and his particular role on the board is currently to work with the building development and the finance groups. In 2012 Trevor took over the role of Company Secretary from Richard Webb. To relax and exercise, Trevor enjoys hill walking and sailing.
Steve is a full time children’s worker based with his wife, Kay (a member of Children Worldwide and former FFT Trustee) in Leicester. He served many years as an industrial administrator and eventually worked with Relate. Steve married Kay and joined Children Worldwide in 1996. He loves writing and leading child-friendly songs and using his puppets to teach children in memorable ways. He collects guitars.
Sue is married to John and is part of the Petworth Community Church leadership team. Sue and John have a married daughter and two grandchildren. Sue works as a spiritual director, and has taught on a Spiritual Direction Course in Nutbourne. Her role on the Board is to bring a prayer/prophetic perspective, and to give prayer mentoring support to Dalesdown’s staff. Sue is also part of the Centre Management Group, and the Bursary Fund subgroup.
Based in Bognor, Dave joined the Board in 2016 after many years supporting the team in many ways, including acting as Chair of the fundraising committee. An experienced entrepreneur and businessman, Dave has links with many charities and Christian groups across Sussex and SE England. Dave brings a great deal of experience to the Board and is a key member of the Finance Team.
Iain is married to June. They have two children and two granddaughters. After a business career spanning 40 years working on the financial and organisational aspects of all major types of insurance, Iain served FFT as Bursar for 9 years until retirement in 2017. Iain has been active in church leadership with a number of Worthing Churches and continues to support local churches and missions. Iain has supported and participated in work amongst young people for as long as he can remember. On the Board of Governors at Worthing High for 19 years he was Chair for his last 3 years. Iain currently Chairs the Development Sub Group.
